Dear Friends,
Not exactly on the WSIS agenda, but since we are dealing with
the impacts of techonology on society, this meeting seemed potentially
interesting to some of you.

Subject: The potential impacts of Nanotechnology
------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am writing to invite you to a meeting with Pat Mooney
and his team from the ETC Group to learn about and discuss the potential
impacts of Nanotechnology. The meeting will take place on the afternoon
of 8 June at:
Salle Mahatma Gandhi, Maison Des Associations,
15 Rue des Savoises, Geneva.
Tel: 022.329.2022.
The meeting will be from 2 pm to 5 pm and we shall be
serving a sandwich and a cup of tea from 1 pm.
I am attaching a briefing paper on Nanotechnology
prepared by the ETC Group as well as Pat Mooney's biography. As some of
you will know, Pat, who has been honoured with the Right Livelihood
Award, has pioneered critical NGO work on emerging technologies and
their potential impacts, such as GMOs. He believes Nanotechnology will
impact on all facets of life, from human rights to the economies of
developing countries, from medical science to the way war will be
conducted in the future.
If you wish to attend the meeting, please return the
completed registration form to Ms. Anne Kawuki at email:
anne.kawuki at unctad.org
Can I ask you please make sure that this invitation
reaches the relevant person(s) in your organization - Many thanks.
I look forward to seeing you on the afternoon on 8 June.
With best regards,
Tony Hill
