Italian prosecutor demands: Take down Indymedia Italy

The public prosecutor's office of Rome has requested the relevant judicial authorities to allow the seizure of Indymedia Italy's website, on the ground of violation of the Italian penal law on 'vilipendio della religione cattolica' ('insult to the catholic religion') and 'vilipendio della figura del Papa' ('insult to the Pope's figure').

Who Kills Journalists and Why?
Brussels, 3 May - The International News Safety Institute today formally launched a global inquiry into the rising death toll among journalists.
The inquiry - the first in-depth survey of its kind - aims to examine the reasons behind the killings and produce a report and recommendations for international action to reduce violence against journalists and others involved in gathering the news.

Promoting Gender Equity in News Media: GMMP 2005
On 16th February 2005, women and men in 102 countries monitored the day's news on TV, radio and in newspapers as part of the third ever Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP). GMMP 2005 is a grassroots media monitoring, research and advocacy project which aims to promote the fair and balanced representation of women and men in news media worldwide.

Global Alliance for ICT Development consultation
E-mail message sent by Mavic Cabrera Balleza, IWTC.
The consultation was held on April 11, 2005 at the UN Headquarters in New York and was chaired by Mr. Sabruland Khan on behalf of the UN ICT Task Force. The consultation is part of a series of on-line and face-to-face consultations with all stakeholders including the consultation held in conjunction with the eighth meeting of the United Nations ICT Task Force in Dublin on April 13-15, 2005.
