Greetings, again about these movies.
I'm receiving a good many requests (that will be honored), but I am a little
apprehensive about one thing. Some have said they want to use them in
classes, which I think is fine. There is also some wish to use these for
'training' and 'promotion' and this makes me, well, I'm really not too sure
what to think, or whether that would be a good idea in some sense.
These are, let's say, 'scholarly' or 'academic' movies (hopefully also
entertaining, but you are a better judge of that!). It is nice if someone
else finds them interesting, but 'promotion' takes me slightly aback.
Obviously, once I send them, I have no control over what happens, so all I'm
doing is raising a question.

Original message************
We have a couple of movies made for WSIS available on DVD (no charge) if
anyone would like a copy (I'll put them on one DVD before I duplicate this).
One was a movie (20 min) some of you might have seen at CERN or the IFIP
event for the Geneva phase called "Before the Horse" (as in, 'don't put the
cart before the horse'). It's about the problems of establishing
connectivity in India, Ghana, andKenya at some research institutes and
university faculties. The second, "After the Fact," is the follow-up we
promised forTunis, screened at the side event ("Past, Present, and Future of
Research in the Information Society" and the exhibition itself). It deals
with problems of maintenance and connectivity in the African context.
Just send me your name & address & I'll send you a copy.
All the best,
