[WSIS CS-Plenary] Fellowships for CS at PrepcomI, CS meetings June 23

Information on the fellowships for Civil society to participate in the first preparatory committee of the WSIS-Phase II has just been released.  Note that we are working to reserve most of 23 June for civil society meetings in preparation for the Prepcom in Hammamet.

Information regarding fellowships for civil society for the Preparatory Meeting (PrepCom-1 of the Tunis phase of the Summit) in Hammamet.


The Tunisian authorities, in order to facilitate the participation representatives of accredited NGOs and civil society entities have decided to offer the following facilities/fellowships:

− Accommodation costs in Hammamet will be provided for the Civil Society Bureau (1 person per family) for the period 23-27 June 2004. Each family has to identify its own representative. The name of the person should be informed to the Executive Secretariat (wsis.csd at ties.itu.int) 

− The Tunisian Government will further cover accommodation costs for a number of NGOs coming from Least Developing Countries (LDCs), three NGO participants per LDC country, each representing a NGO. The list of beneficiaries will be decided jointly by the Tunisians and the WSIS Executive Secretariat 

− All other Civil Society participants will benefit from reduced hotel prices 	foreseen for PrepCom1 as well as from welcome facilities at the Airport and 	free transfer to Hammamet.

Excluded from this are international travel costs. All persons registered to participate at PrepCom1 will receive a confirmation note, which allows them to obtain the necessary entry visa, as well as 50% reduction on all roundtrip Tunis Air flights destination Tunis.

Other conditions: 

1.  The NGO/civil society entity must be accredited to WSIS

2.  The NGO/civil society entity must be domiciled in a LDC (Least Developed Country) 

3.  The fellow/participant has to follow the Preparatory Meeting of WSIS at Hammamet.

4.  The fellowship request form has to be sent to the WSIS Executive Secretariat at the latest by 5 June 2005. Candidates retained for fellowship will be informed by the Executive Secretariat.

Information concernant des bourses pour la société civile pour la reunion préparatoire (PrepCom-1 de la phase de Tunis du WSIS) de Hammamet


Sur initiative de la Tunisie, des dispositions visant une large participation de la société civile à la réunion préparatoire (PrepCom1) ont été prises, comme suit:

- Les frais d’hébergement des membres du Bureau International de la Société Civile (une personne par famille) à Hammamet pour la période du 23 au 27 juin 2004, vont être couverts par la partie tunisienne. Le bénéficiaire de la prise en charge sera identifié par chaque famille. Les familles informeront le Secrétariat exécutif de leur choix (wsis.csd at ties.itu.int)

- La Tunisie prendra en charge les frais de séjour en Tunisie (Hammamet), pendant la période du 23 au 27 juin 2004, d’un certain nombre d’ONGs des pays les moins avancés (trois ONG par pays au maximum), à raison d’un participant par ONG. La liste des bénéficiaires de la prise en charge sera arrêtée conjointement entre la partie tunisienne et le Secrétariat exécutif du SMSI

- Pour les autres participants de la société civile qui ne serait pas pris en charge, ils bénéficieront des réductions hôtelières prévues pour PrepCom1, ainsi que des autres facilités d’accueil à l’aéroport et de transfert à Hammamet.

Il est à noter que les frais de transport international sont exclus de cette prise en charge.

Par ailleurs la procédure d’inscription prévoit que les personnes inscrites pour prendre part à la PrepCom1, recevront une notification d’inscription leur permettant d’obtenir les visas nécessaires ainsi que la réduction de 50% sur les vols directs à destination de Tunis et retour.

Autres conditions :

1 L’ONG/entité de la société civile doit être accredité au SMSI

2. L’ONG/entitié de la société civile doit être basé/domicilié dans un PMA (Pays les moins avancés)

3. Le/la candidat(e) retenu(e) doit suivre la réunion préparatoire du WSIS à Hammamet

4. Le formulaire de demande de bourse doit être envoyé au Secrétariat exécutif au plus tard le 5 juin 2005. Les candidat(e)s retenu(e)s seront informés par le Secrétariat exécutif.
