1) WOWEM AROUND THE WORLD
Welcome to Women's Open World Empowerment Movement!

www.wowem.org

WOWEM was created by and for Women who use or want to learn more about Free and 
Open Source Software, also called F/OSS, or OS, and sometimes Linux. F/OSS is 
the first successful, sustainable, community developed and owned software model 
that can provide new access to communication rights for people worldwide. More 
information on this can be found here: Wikipedia.

WOWEM is a fledgling organization being developed with the kind care of The 
Foundation for Building Sustainable Communities, a Canadian Non-Profit 
organization. We are working with this and other organizations that have an 
inherent interest in promoting the use of Free and Open Source Software (F/OSS) 
in conjunction with Gender Equity issues worldwide.

Started as an idea by Stacy Gildenston (USA), current Director of Certification 
for LPI, and developed in partnership with Joan Kerr-McKnight (originally of 
Jamaica, now of Canada), and Lady Murrugarra (Peru), both experts in women's 
development.

WOWEM includes discussion participants from Africa, Asia/PACRIM, Central and 
South America, and Europe (beyond the EU).
