This insecurity will have a knock-on effect on terms and conditions of employment, weakening the enforcement of existing employment rights. <br><br>However, we often forget that cuts and austerity affect more communities than we imagine. The cuts will not only affect departments such as the home office, legal aid, universities and local governments, but also people, like the LGBT communities. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#773B6A'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#773B6A'>LGBT housing advice service has reported that there has been an all time high in calls for support, with 25% of younger LGBT people already 'street homeless'. <br><br>Carola Towle, UNISON national officer, LGBT equality, wrote in a </span><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#A07997'><a href="http://www.ier.org.uk/blog/austerity-and-pink-pound-gaining-depth-understanding"><span style='color:#A07997'>blog for IER</span></a>,</span><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#773B6A'> <br><br>" Another recurrent theme was marginalisation, guilt and isolation. People expressed concerns that their needs as LGBT people were treated as less important than others - a luxury or ‘nice thing to do’ that could be dropped in harder times. They felt guilty for asking that their needs be met in a climate of austerity. Cuts were leading to less acceptance." <br><br>This is clear proof that inequality is still an issue amongst many communities in the UK.
